Chapel Craft offers a new approach to christian retreats recognising that often people need to have something to occupy their physical body in a creative way in order to allow the mind to relax into a prayerful and meditative state. Icon painters have recognised the use of creativity in prayer for many years and now we take that one step further.
We provide the facilities and expertise for you to be able to learn or improve your creative craft ability. Often people who think that they can't draw or paint simply need a little help in relaxing with the medium and to be allowed to let their creativity to flow. Our retreats are designed specifically for this very purpose. You will be encouraged to try new ideas and techniques and it doesn't matter when you get things wrong - we all take time to learn!
So why not try something new? From drawing, painting or pastels all the way through to candle making, gem cutting and wood carving, we offer the opportunity to allow your creative side to grow and flourish.
God made us in his own image and God "created". How better to bring your mind into focus on prayer than to follow in God's footsteps and start creating for yourself.
All our retreats provide for the begginer as well as those more experienced in craft work or in prayer. You are invited to join in our short morning liturgy and our evening meditation as and when you wish to. We do not force people into prayer - we invite them to experience and enjoy whatever they feel comfortable with.
